Two essentials to look for in bedding for your baby are safety and warmth. 100 percent cotton is the preferred choice for baby sheets and blankets. Remember there is a wide variety of baby beds, and different types have different bedding needs, so be careful when making a decision.

For a very first bed, many parents choose bassinets or Moses baskets. The disadvantage is that their usage is limited to less than half a year because at around 4 or 5 months, babies usually weigh more than the cradle will hold. They also provide a solution if you want to be able to move your baby in order to keep a close eye on him or her. Pediatricians recommend removing soft bedding, such as pillows and blankets, from bassinets.

While it may be tempting to transition your baby to a standard bed, they should be kept into a crib until the age of twelve to eighteen months. There are many options for baby sleeping – some go for the traditional crib setup, while parents on the go may opt for a lighter, portable model, which may have a higher cost. One type of bed which gives you lots of options is a crib which converts to another item of baby equipment. It’s worth buying a convertible crib; although they cost more, they save money in the longer term by converting into a bed as your baby becomes a toddler. Buying a crib from a company that is well-known is preferred.

Baby blankets should be soft, safe, and pure. There is an assortment of soft,smooth and pleasant smelling blankets that are eye cathing.

Crib sets may be gender specific or gender neutral. Both genders are able to use many color combinations and cartoon characters. Baby bedding that is pink, purple and pastel blue are usually meant for girls, but bedding for boys is usually darker and bolder. The baby beds are same for a baby boy or a baby girl and can be used for both of them.

Babies are not developed enough to understand our concept of gender. Babies are simply attracted to whatever they find stimulating. As a child ages, though, a boy may feel uncomfortable with a bed dressed in pinks and pastels. In the same way, a room decorated with a baseball theme might not be ideal for a little girl.

A large number of options are available when choosing baby bedding, thereby making the choices fun as well as frustrating. There’s such a wide range available that, whatever you eventually decide you want, you’ll be able to find it. When you’re exploring the options, the range of beds and badding available can be bewildering. The answer to draw up a budget ahead of time, and stick to it. This way, you don’t waste time looking at bedding that isn’t the right kind or in the right price range. It also helps you focus on exactly what you want.
